Please stay ahead by regularly updating WhatsApp from the App Store and the TestFlight app to get this feature in the future in case you don’t have it after installing this update. If you don’t have this feature, note that some accounts may receive it over the coming weeks, although it has not been indicated in the official changelog. It’s important to note that WhatsApp is not replacing phone numbers with email addresses, as this feature is simply providing users with an extra access method. This is an alternative login method in case users are temporarily unable to get the 6-digit code via SMS, but they must still use a phone number to create an account, and logging in with a phone number still remains an option. Just open WhatsApp Settings > Account to experiment with this feature today. However, even though it’s not mentioned in the official changelog on the App Store, we can also confirm that WhatsApp is releasing the ability to assiciate your email address with your WhatsApp account. The official changelog still mentions that a bug that was causing app slowdown for some users was fixed, even although the nature of the bug is currently unknown.
